And our project for the weekend of June 13, 2009

Wow, this was a busy week! Here is Bebe, adopted from the cocker spaniel rescue in Fairfax County today. She is 3 years old, and a real sweetie (right now she is lying right beside my chair as I type this)

The first project of the week of June 8, 2009

This is our new patio, between the garage and the house. I would like to say that Hugh did a great job, didn't he? But discretion was the better part of valor on our part, at our age, and we had a young fellow come in and build this. Now I think we have more outdoor living space than we do inside, and we love it! Come by for hotdogs and s'mores on the coals of the firepit.

Summertime, summertime

The screened porch has become our summertime sunshine room. I was so excited when I found the blue and yellow striped fabric! Then I had to go out and find the yellow tablecloth. We love this "room".

After what has seemed like weeks of rain, the sun finally came out on Saturday, and what a glorious day!
I played tennis first thing in the morning, then we went to a local strawberry patch and picked a whole bunch of strawberries, as you can see.

After hulling all of these, and getting some ready for the freezer, we headed out to an afternoon at a local winery, which was holding a fund-raiser for the "Volunteer Farm", which raises food for the Blue Ridge Food Bank.

The fund-raiser included an auction, wine-tasting, barbecue, and a concert by Robin and Linda Williams, who appear pretty regularly on "A Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor.

After all this, we came home and had strawberry shortcake! What more could you ask for, all in one day?
